WHAT’S THE WEBINAR ABOUT?

On March 15, 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) signed a final rule titled Federal “Good Neighbor Plan” for the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The rule established first time ozone season nitrogen oxide (NOX) emission limitations for 9 non-electric generating unit (non-EGU) sectors in 20 different states. During this webinar, we will discuss the following:

  • A brief history of the rulemaking process.
  • The current status of the rule.
  • An overview of the NOX limitations and the initial and the ongoing compliance demonstration requirements.
  • The challenges that facilities may face with meeting these requirements by the compliance deadline of May 1, 2026.
  • Requirements where clarity is still needed.
  • What facilities should do now to be in compliance by the deadline.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Environmental professionals who are responsible for air quality compliance in one of the following industry sectors: pipeline transportation of natural gas, cement and concrete product manufacturing, glass and glass product manufacturing, iron and steel mills and ferroalloy manufacturing, metal ore mining, basic chemical manufacturing, petrochemical and coal products manufacturing or pulp, paper, and paperboard mills. Even if you are not located in one of the covered states, this rule could become the blueprint for other control requirements [i.e., reasonably available control technology (RACT) or best available control technology (BACT)] in your state.

WHY ATTEND?

Understanding the impacts of the Ozone FIP to your facility and emissions units is a crucial element of charting a path to compliance by the regulatory deadline of May 1, 2026.
