The Climate Registry (TCR) released the final General Reporting Protocol on March 31, 2008, which may be of interest to those organizations considering the development of their carbon footprint or greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventory.  TCR is a non-profit partnership dedicated to developing verifiable GHG data from GHG reporters by supporting a robust accounting and verification infrastructure with over 39 signatory states including many of the northeast states (e.g., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland).  TCR is encouraging organizations to become Founding Reporters of the TCR.  To become a Founding Reporter, organizations must complete a Statement of Intent Form for participation by May 1, 2008.  Organizations that become Founding Reporters gain insight into creating a consistent and verifiable carbon footprint as the United States and North America move towards mandatory programs related to climate change.  TCR reporting protocols are consistent with ISO global guidelines and those provided by the World Resource Institute.
