Career Highlights
Caira Flanagan graduated from the University of Delaware in 2024 with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Ecoscience and a minor in Public Health. During her academic career, Caira researched the Brazilian population’s vulnerability to schistosomiasis, a waterborne parasite. To present her research, Caira completed a comprehensive literature review assessing the efficacy of Praziquantel against schistosomiasis in Brazil, evaluating key factors such as drug resistance, patient access to care, and the country’s socioeconomic landscape.

My family calls me Kiki and Bobbit.
When you were 8 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an elementary school teacher.
What was the most memorable Halloween costume you ever wore?
I was recently Smitty WerbenJagerManJensen from Spongebob … he was number 1!
Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
Greta Thunberg! I met her studying abroad in The Hague.
Do you have any hidden talents that people you meet would not expect?
I would argue that my shell spotting/collecting skills at the beach are top tier.
If you were stranded on an island, what are three things you couldn’t live without?
Books, music, and chocolate chip cookies.
